Maj Michael A. Ross, CD

Assistant Defence Cooperation Attaché (A/DCA)

Major Michael Ross grew-up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 1981, he enrolled in the Canadian Forces and spent four years in the Military College system attending Royal Roads Military College in Victoria and the Royal Military College in Kingston, graduating in May 1985.

As a newly promoted Second-Lieutenant, he attended the AERE Officer’s Basic Course at CFSATE, Borden. In 1986, he was posted to the Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment in Cold Lake, AB. He moved to Ottawa in 1988 on posting to the PMO CF Light Helicopter and was promoted to Captain in January 1989. Following the cancellation of the CFLH project, Captain Ross moved to DAS Eng to serve as the Recovery and Salvage (R&S) and Aircraft Battle Damage Repair (ABDR) Program Officer. In 1992 he joined the DFTEM 4 organization, sooner to be renamed the Directorate of Technical Airworthiness (DTA) as a Stores Clearance engineer.

In 1996, he returned to Cold Lake and spent two years in the 1 Air Maintenance Squadron (1 AMS). He then moved to 441 Tactical Fighter Squadron and was deployed to Aviano, Italy from April to July 2000 as the A4 Maint O. He was subsequently posted to the Air Force Tactical Training Centre (AFTTC) as the Maple Flag Maintenance Officer. Promoted to the rank of Major in June 2002, he was posted to 1 Canadian Air Division, Winnipeg to serve as the A4 Maintenance Occupational Readiness Officer.

In July 2005, Maj Ross returned to 1 AMS Cold Lake for another tour, this time as the Aircraft Maintenance Officer. Maj Ross was posted to his present position as the Assistant Defence Cooperation Attaché in August 2008.

Maj Ross holds a Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Maj Ross is married to Lori Tremblay, from Porquis Falls, Ontario and they have three daughters; Amanda, Kayla and Emerald.
