Captain George Vriniotis holds a degree in Economics and International Development Studies from McGill University. He has also completed various nationally recognized financial and internationally recognized trade courses. He is fluent in English, French and Greek.
He joined the Canadian Forces in 2001. From 2002 to 2005 he was employed as an Air Defence Officer in CFB Petawawa and then in CFB Gagetown. During this time he held various command and leadership roles with both 1st Air Defence Regiment and 4th Air Defence Regiment respectively. He joined the Public Affairs Branch in 2006 with an initial posting to Strategic Joint Staff (SJS) Public Affairs where he advised on major defence files. During this time he was also part of a team that provided crucial public affairs support and advice to senior staff within the CF and DND. He has also provided extensive public affairs advice to senior international military officers and to the communications staff of some heads of state. From 2008 to 2009 he was part of Combat Camera.
He joined the Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C. in 2009 as the Assistant Canadian Forces Public Affairs Officer, and brings with him years of combat arms, public affairs and international relations experience. Throughout his career, he has been across North America, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
